While I’ve been busy writing new material lately, I’ve been playing around with my Tascam tape recorder. I’ll record some ideas from Ableton onto tape, and see if the “ghosts in the machine” can stir up some anomalies in the process. The results are usually quite awesome!
While doing this, I had the idea to stem mix my two most recent singles, “Stained Glass” and “The Garden, directly into the machine, and to use the pitch control knob to “screw” them down a bit. The results are out now on all digital platforms!
I grew up listening to tons of chopped and screwed hip hop, so this is my take on that, without the chopped part, haha. I think it gives these songs an interesting flavor. Should everything in life be run through a Tascam Portastudio?
Hope you enjoy the results from my studio tinkering. More stuff to come!
